THE CLASSIC STRUGGLE: New Song Available For Streaming
August 13, 2008Myrtle Beach, South Carolina's THE CLASSIC STRUGGLE has posted a new song called "Stat Unionville" on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's forthcoming album, "Bring Back the Glory", which is scheduled for release on September 2 via Ironclad Recordings.
"Stat Unionville" holds a lot of emotional significance for the band. Guitarist Chris Grant explains, "Our drummer Tyler Solnosky had an accident a couple years back and this song was written about him. It isn't a focus on religion but it was a huge shock factor. When he fell, he was in a drug-induced coma for a week. It was really hard. It took us a year and a half to write again. In that time he had to learn to walk and play drums again. Once he got back to playing, it was the first song we wrong together, and we grew tighter as a band. When he relearned to play, instead of playing fast and intricate beats, he really learned what beats are the best fit."
Regarding the band's sound, Grant says, "We never tried to target anything or anyone when we wrote this material. We pretty much just call ourselves thrash. We don't try to label it; we don't want to try to put some fancy name on it. We just wanted a return to the glory days of metal with a modern twist."
